Moling (Trenchless Technology)

The process of moling (trenchless technology) allows the installation or renewal of underground pipes, ducts and cables with the minimum disruption to the property.

This trenchless technique is ideal for using in driveways, paths, car-parks, golf courses and gardens where new or replacement services are required without disturbing the surface above.

Moling can also be advantageous and cost effective for builders who need new services to an extension or require services under reinforced concrete.

Cornell Water Services commonly uses a 45mm Mole for installation of pipes up to 1 inch diameter or for cables. We carry out an initial site survey before moling to assess whether there are any existing underground services in the area.

Underground Pipe Replacement

There are many reasons for replacing your existing pipe-work. These include:

• Poor water pressure
• Lead contaminated water
• Repeat leakage
• Small bore lead water pipes causing clogging and limescale

Replacing your water pipe with a plastic one can eliminate all these problems.

Using our high tech moling equipment we are able to replace existing pipe-work without needing to dig trenches, minimising disruption to the property.

Underground Leak Repairs

An underground leak not only wastes water and reduces water pressure, it can also lead to structural problems. Our specialist staff are experienced in locating underground leaks and repairing faulty piping.

We can re-route your pipe around your property using trenchless technology (moling), putting a new point of entry into your home up to your internal stop tap, replacing the old stop tap if necessary.

• Damp patch in the garden, driveway or anywhere during dry weather
• Grass is greener in some places more than others
• Marked drop in water pressure

How to check for leaks if you have a meter:

1. Shut off all taps in property including the tap uder your sink or on your rising main.
2. Lift the cover of your water meter and if any dials are moving there is a problem from your meter to your house.
